A CHILD has miraculously survived an eight-storey fall from a Gold Coast unit block after a game of hide-and-seek with a babysitter went wrong.
Police say the four-year-old girl, who was holidaying on the Glitter Strip with her parents from Asia, fell about 25m from the balcony of The Phoenician Resort at Broadbeach about 11.15am yesterday while "playing games" with a babysitter.
But she incredibly escaped with a broken leg and other "non-life-threatening" injuries after plunging into a garden bed, cushioning her fall.

Witnesses said they heard a thud and were stunned to see the girl crawl out alive.
"She's a very lucky little girl," police Child Protection Investigation Unit chief detective Inspector Mark White said.
"We're just so thankful she landed in that hedge and that she's OK."
The girl was taken by ambulance to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where her condition was reported as stable.
Police have launched an investigation. Detectives were yesterday interviewing the babysitter and the child's parents but Insp White said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
"It appears to be an accident at this stage but we are conducting a thorough investigation," he said. "The parents are quite distressed, as you can imagine."
Holidaymaker Rebecca Duncan said she was horrified at the near-tragedy but amazed the girl escaped with her life.
"You just can't imagine what the parents are feeling," she said.
"Kids are so quick at this age. You have to watch their every move."
