THE Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter Zara Phillips has given birth to a baby girl.
The baby was born on Friday at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in western England and weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces (3.5 kilograms). The palace says her name will be released "in due course.''
British bookies say Anne is the favorite for a name for the newborn, after Zara's mother, while Elizabeth and Zara are also frontrunners. Sophia, Ava and Emma are also considered to be in the running, reports the Telegraph UK.
The baby, who is the Queen's fourth great-grandchild, becomes 16th in line for the throne.
The couple chose not to know the sex of the baby before she was born.
This is the first child for Phillips and her husband, rugby player Mike Tindall. The couple met in Australia in 2003 and wed in Edinburgh in 2011.
The 32-year-old Phillips, an Olympic equestrian, is the daughter of Princess Anne and Capt Mark Phillips.

The Queen and royal family were "delighted with the news," said the Queen's press secretary.
"The baby's name will be confirmed in due course."
Phillips won a silver medal with the British equestrian team during the 2012 London Olympics. She took a break from training while pregnant, but plans to compete in the Rio Olympics in 2016.
The baby's birth comes after Phillips' cousin Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their first child, Prince George, last year.
British Prime Minister David Cameron "passes on his many congratulations to the happy couple and to Her Majesty the Queen," his spokesperson said.
Mr Cameron tweeted: "Many congratulations to Zara and Mike Tindall on the birth of their baby girl!"

Phillips does not have a royal title and the baby will be known as Miss Tindall, reports the BBC.
