ADELAIDE has launched an investigation into how footage of a player adjusting himself in full view of the cameras went to air live during yesterday's match against Brisbane.

Crows forward Ricky Henderson dropped his shorts, exposing himself, momentarily as players were making their way back to the field after the half-time break at the Gabba.

Screen grabs of the embarrassing incident went viral on social media yesterday.

Adelaide said it was "disappointed" the vision went to air in a short three line statement issued this morning.

The club asked media not to publish the footage or stills out of respect for the privacy of Henderson.

The AFL Players' Association is also expected to issue a please explain to the league and broadcaster, Fox Footy.

"Disappointed the footage of Ricky Henderson aired. We'll follow up to find out why. Cameras in place on basis player privacy respected," AFLPA general manager Ian Prendergast tweeted this morning.

Meanwhile, Crows defender Brodie Smith urged Henderson to "keep it your pants".

But Geelong midfielder Allen Christensen took a different approach.
