NON-LETHAL weapons have been used to subdue a gunman responsible for bringing Brisbane's Queen Street mall to a standstill on Friday.
3pm: One eyewitness said he had been making a money transfer at Xpress Money when the incident began and had initially been trapped in the public part of the premises after staff locked themselves behind the glass counter.
He said the "heavily tattooed" man had had a small gun that he was pointing at his own neck while Police tried to talk him down.
"He was crazy," the witness said.
"He was saying to Police, 'shoot me in my head'."

"He was shot on his shoulder, I could see blood on his shoulder," the witness said.
"Then the police caught him."
The witness said the incident had been "threatening in the beginning" but he did not believe there was any danger to anyone, including the gunman.

"He was safe," he said.
1.50pm: The troubled father of three who held Queen Street Mall to siege was days away from fronting court on a string of charges around a bizarre self-harm incident.
The man, 34, was due to face Caboolture Magistrates Court this week on multiple charges.
His lawyer, Adele Osborne, who represented him, declined to comment on whether her client had any mental health issues. He was not required to apply for bail over the recent incident.
The injured gunman is taken from the Queen Street Mall.
1.40pm: Staff and customers from a Queen Street Mall clothing store told how they locked themselves in when a gunman started brandishing his weapon just metres away.
They told how he shouted at police that he "just want to see my kids" while holding the gun under his chin.
The girls said they were locked inside Latin Clothing Company for three-and-a-half hours.
"He was going around everywhere and holding the gun to his neck," one said.

One witness said the man was "walking around outside our store and just yelling at the cops to p... off".
"The guy got shot. As soon as he got shot we kind of just went to the window to have a look and he was on the floor with blood on his shoulder and his leg," she said.
"And they took him away straight away."
Police earlier said reports of blood at the scene were not true, as the man had been subdued using non-lethal means.
Amateur footage shows Brisbane police surrounding the gunman.
The girls said they heard more than five shots - several they believe we're rubber bullets used by police and two louder shots they assume were fired by the gunman.
"He was screaming but I couldn't understand what he was saying," the witness said.
"It was very scary knowing someone was just outside our store with a gun.
"(The police were saying) get on the ground (and) talking a lot about his kids ... because he was saying he just wanted to see his kids, that's all he wanted to do and they were saying 'we'll get your kids for you, just put the gun down, please can you put the gun down'.

1.20pm: Eyewitness Tariq Khan said the heavily-tattooed man had been pointing a small gun at his own neck and imploring police to shoot him.
Mr Khan said police had fired three shots, wounding the man in the shoulder. They then detained him, he said.
Bean bag rounds and rubber bullets were used to subdue the gunman.

It is understood that the man is known to police.
12.59pm: The gunman has been taken to hospital after he was shot by officers to end the stand-off in Queen Street Mall.
A source said non-lethal rounds - a so-called bean bag gun - were used to stop the man.
An emergency services spokeswoman said the man's injuries were unknown at this stage.
An eyewitness has spoken to the Courier Mail about what he saw of the gunman on Queen Street.
He is being taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
A SERT member was in the front seat of the ambulance that took the gunman to hospital.
People who were in lockdown in stores are now being released by police officers.
Those who were evacuated from the area are not yet allowed back in.

12.50pm: There are reports that police have fired two shots, injuring the shirtless gunman in Brisbane's Queen Street Mall.
An ambulance has moved in to take him away.

Several witnesses reported hearing two shots just before 12.40pm.
At 12.29pm: Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Ainsworth has said police have "contained" the gunman and he is being spoken to by negotiators.
He is contained in a shop but police have again asked members of the public to stay away.
Police have given a media presser surrounding the Queens Street Mall gunman.
At 12.20pm: People have been evacuated from stores. Customers from coffee shop Brew said they were locked in about half an hour ago and were just let out after police ordered their evacuation.
Mother of two Donna Holt said she had been dining in Hungry Jacks with her family when police told people in the restaurant there was a man with a gun.
Diners were then barricaded in the restaurant and ordered to move to a lower floor from where they were later evacuated, she said.
At 12.12pm: The Special Emergency Response Team swooped down on the Queen St Mall and have moved towards the Myer Centre.

Witnesses are reporting members of the public who were watching the drama unfold from George Street have been pushed back further following reports the gunman is moving back towards Treasury Casino and Hotel.
Shoppers locked inside the storeroom of Cotton On have said SERT are talking to them from the front of the store but have not given them the all-clear to leave.
Another witness from Redcliffe said he saw the whole incident, which started at 11.10am.

"I was walking next to the man, outside the Myer Centre," he said.
"He pulled out a gun, but he was surrounded by two undercover cops, they didn't have any uniforms on," he said.
"They pulled out their guns then too and they shouted 'gun, gun, gun'."
"The guy has a handgun. He took off his shirt and he's covered in tattoos."
SERT officers enter the mall after reports of a gunman.
He said police had the whole Myer centre and Queen Street Mall area locked down within five minutes.
At 12-noon: the man was reportedly sitting on a chair, shirtless, holding a gun to his chin.
The emergency situation was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act about 11.20am this morning.
At 11.45am: Witnesses said police have blocked off George St at the top of Queen St Mall.
Police have confirmed an emergency situation has been declared in Queen St Mall after reports of "an armed person".
There is a large police presence near the Treasury Casino and Hotel and officers are reported to be crouching behind their police cars.
Witnesses have said there is a man with a gun in the mall surrounded by police, and that the gunman "looked like a bikie and high as a kite".
Witness have reported police officers were seen running through King George Square towards the Mall while others have been locked in the storeroom of retail shops.
Police Media have confirmed Queen St Mall has been evacuated but are yet to comment on the reports of a man with a gun.
Police have evacuated the Mall and are ushering people towards City Hall.
An employee at Fitness First saw officers running with their guns drawn.
Stores confirmed to be in lockdown include the Myer Centre and Cotton On.
They tweeted they have evacuated the area while "they respond to an incident".
They are asking everyone to avoid the area.
